Alexandria is a city in and the county seat of Campbell County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 8,286 at the 2000 census. Alexandria is located at 38°57?32?N 84°23?21?W? / ?38.95889°N 84.38917°W? / 38.95889; -84.38917 (38.958947, -84.389290). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.44 square miles (14.1 km²), of which, 5.37 square miles (13.9 km²) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.92%) is water. The city is fifteen miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio, on U.S. Route 27. Alexandria is located at the extreme northern limit of the humid subtropical climate of the Southeastern United States and at the extreme southern limit of the humid continental climate of the Great Lakes region; Alexandria is situated in a climatic transition zone and is influenced by both of these climates.
