Atlas Township is a general law township of Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 7,257. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.0 square miles (93.2 kmē), of which, 35.4 square miles (91.6 kmē) of it is land and 0.6 square miles (1.6 kmē) of it (1.67%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 7,257 people, 2,442 households, and 2,053 families residing in the township. The population density was 205.2 per square mile (79.2/kmē). There were 2,554 housing units at an average density of 72.2/sq mi (27.9/kmē). The racial makeup of the township was 97.56% White, 0.33% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races.
