According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.2 km2), of which, 2.0 square miles (5.2 km2) of it is land and 0.50% is water. Beattyville is led by the Mayor Joe Kash and city council members, as well as the city manager, Doug Mays and city clerk. The Beattyville Fire Department is headed by Chief Greg Brandenburg and the Beattyville City Police Department by Chief Tim Chandler.
